#GivingTuesday with “Make a Splash for SwimRVA” starts early this year! Help SwimRVA and donate today on BLACK FRIDAY to reach a matching challenge gift of $1,000 provided by an anonymous donor.

Giving Tuesday:  Tuesday, December 1, 2020

#GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities.

Mark your calendar and support SwimRVA as we celebrate #GivingTuesday with “Make a Splash for SwimRVA” joining millions around the word participating in the global generosity movement on December 1, 2020.

SwimRVA will host a giving campaign to support the organization during this challenging time. Help us continue our work in the community to #DrownproofRichmond and provide opportunity to those most in need. Access to developing the necessary and life saving skills of learning how to swim is vital to making Richmond water safe and a more vibrant community.

The “Make a Splash for SwimRVA” campaign seeks to raise $35,000 in support of the organization and our community outreach as a nonprofit. In addition, we seek to acquire 100 new donors to the #SwimRVAFamily.

Matching Gift Challenges

We are excited to announce that we secured $16,000 in challenge gifts for GivingTuesday. Thank you so much to Tammy & Scott DeRosier, The Wintsch Family, and an anonymous donor for their tremendous support of our campaign. We hope the #SwimRVAFamily will come together and match these challenge gifts on December 1st.

SwimRVA is the non-profit community hub for aquatics in the Richmond region.

SwimRVA began as the Greater Richmond Aquatics Partnership (GRAP), a collaboration of five educational and youth sport leaders who shared the goal of providing a world-class aquatics facility in Chesterfield. Today – thanks to ever-developing and evolving partnerships with civic leaders, schools, community groups, and amazing organizations like the YMCA, the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs, and VCU – we’re building social bridges through aquatics that cross physical, racial, and economic barriers. Much more than just a pool, we serve as a catalyst for water safety, health and fitness, sports tourism, competitive aquatics, and possibility, for all Richmonders.

Making aquatics accessible is central to why we’re here

Our Drownproof Richmond initiative, in particular, has always been at the heart of our nonprofit mission to bring aquatic access and education to everyone in the region. Visit our Drownproof Richmond page to learn more about why it is critically important for SwimRVA to continue to provide free, top-quality learn-to-swim lessons to our community’s underserved youth.

Our Manifesto

We are very grateful to SwimRVA for making swim lessons accessible for our children, many of whom might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn to swim. The enormous professionalism that they have shown in organizing and executing the program is remarkable and we feel lucky to be a part of this important effort to drownproof Richmond. There is always and extra buzz of energy on ‘swim days’.
