November 24, 2025 Posted by SwimRVA

SwimRVA is gearing up to host the fourth edition of their East Coast WinterFest swim meet that is expected to welcome over 1300 athletes to the Richmond area, along with their families and coaches. A meet that started in 2022 with less than 200 athletes has exploded in popularity over the last couple years, now including teams from 6 states across the East Coast, stretching from North Carolina to New York.

At the meet, which runs from December 11-14, SwimRVA is excited to debut their brand new, state-of-the-art theatrical lighting system, adding yet another feature to an already world-class facility. The facility, which features the 2008 Olympic Trials pool as its centerpiece, has become the nexus of proactive, inclusive aquatic efforts uplifting the region and has turned Richmond into one of the most exciting swimming hubs of the eastern seaboard.

SwimRVA has created a brand that is nationally recognized for aquatic excellence. USA Swimming and U.S. Masters Swimming have repeatedly trusted SwimRVA to host major championship events, including 12 Eastern Zone Long Course Age Group Championships,  5 Eastern Zones Long Course Super Sectionals, 4 U.S.A. Swimming Futures Championships, 2 TYR Pro Series meets, the Toyota U.S. Open, and the U.S.A. Masters National Championship, as well as multiple College Conference Championships and dozens of VHSL State Championships. Multiple Olympic athletes have competed across these meets at SwimRVA on their journeys to national and international medals. With its newly installed lighting system, SwimRVA continues to elevate the standard for a premier competitive atmosphere, increasing the already robust appeal of SwimRVA as an esteemed aquatic destination.

Richmond has become one of the top tourism destinations in the country, boosted by the incredible growth in sports and aquatic competition. SwimRVA generates $7 million in economic impact annually and has fueled the Richmond region’s national reputation for major events. The regional success is made possible by partnerships with Richmond Region Tourism, Chesterfield County and the local business community.
