Learn-To-Swim Success Stories: Meet April!

November 03, 2025 Posted by SwimRVA

When she first walked down the stairs into the water on day one, April already had a huge smile on her face. As the instructor helped her into the water to evaluate her placement, she listened intently and showed off some big bubbles in the water. April shared that she loved the water, but had never had an opportunity to learn swimming skills so she was excited to participate in the class.

As she participated, April did a great job remembering the safety rules and listening to the instructors. She continued to stay tuned in to what her classmates did on their turns, listening to the feedback provided for them and applying it to herself. This extra attention to others’ instruction has helped her improve by leaps and bounds every week – even ringing the bell to pass a station two weeks in a row!

Despite her limited experience in the water, April was brave enough to try new skills with the support of her instructor and camaraderie of her classmates. This brave face and willingness to contribute to her success throughout the program. We can’t wait to see what station she will make it to by her last session and we hope that she continues to love both learning and swimming!
