Hopewell Lifeguard School Students Fuel Aquatics Continuum

March 11, 2026 Posted by SwimRVA

Students Mikaiah and Angelo are participants in our Lifeguard School for Hopewell High School students. The two-week immersive program led by SwimRVA instructors combines swimming skill development with professional rescuer certification and allows for students to pursue career paths as both lifeguards and swim instructors.

This past week, Mikaiah and Angelo jumped into the pool at the Hopewell Community Center as swim instructors for our Learn-To-Swim program. Working with second graders from Enon and Middle Road Elementary Schools, they helped teach essential water-safety skills that both keep children safe around water and provide them with the ability to pursue careers in aquatics later down the road, just as Mikaiah and Angelo are pursuing today.

Thank you Mikaiah and Angelo for giving back and strengthening this vital aquatics continuum!
