From the Pool to the Ballpark: Landon’s Record-Setting Day

March 25, 2026 Posted by SwimRVA

Many athletes feel like they have to pick just one sport to be successful, but Landon, a swimmer for the SwimRVA Rapids, is proving that you really can do it all. Landon had a record weekend, literally, from competing in the Clover Cup to jumping right into his baseball team’s opening day.

Even though Landon raced all three days at the Clover Cup, Saturday quickly became the most memorable. That morning, he tried something new by swimming the 100 butterfly for the very first time in prelims. With tons of teammates and families cheering him on, he didn’t just finish, he came within 1.02 seconds of the boys 8 & under meet record. That amazing swim earned him a spot in finals later that night.

After prelims, Landon didn’t slow down. He headed straight to the baseball field and helped his team pull off a win in their season opener, capping off an already awesome day.

With barely any time to catch his breath, no nap and only about an hour of downtime, Landon made his way back to the pool that evening. Despite the packed schedule, he put together an incredible performance, winning the 100 butterfly and breaking the meet record he had just missed earlier in the day.

Landon’s weekend is a great reminder that with dedication, determination, and the willingness to try something new, success can come in more ways than one.
