As she neared retirement, 71 year-old Pauline knew she wanted to exercise and fell in love with the line dance class here at SwimRVA. She volunteered to be a substitute teacher when her teacher needed help. After mastering the moves, the instructor turned the class over to her and she’s been sharing her passion for the class ever since.
“(I) love that we are a group, we just love each other,” Pauline commented. She invites her students to get to class a few minutes early so they can socialize.
Pauline thinks her years as an educator helps her current students. You have to “meet them where they are.” She has always been active, and finds Line Dancing “greatly lifts your mood…We dance around the world,” said Pauline. The class includes country, as well as, African, Latin, Spanish, Greek, American, and soul music.
Thinking about trying out Line Dancing? Pauline suggests the Tuesday class as an intermediate level. Thursday’s she teaches two classes. “Aerobic Dance” at 9:15 which she says is an introductory class and Line Dance at 10:15 which is line dancing for beginners. Be sure to check the current schedule below for Pauline’s and other classes. |
