Mermaids (SwimRVA-CSAC)

SwimRVA’s Mermaids program is designed as an introduction to the sport of Artistic Swimming. Participants will learn the basics of Artistic Swimming figures, choreography and team routines, and will have opportunities to perform at SwimRVA events, including the spring Artistic Swimming Team Group Showcase. The Mermaids Artistic Swimming Team is performance based and does not compete.

 

Novice (SwimRVA-CSAC)

Novice athletes are generally first- and second-year artistic swimming athletes, usually age 12 and under, who are working on basic artistic swimming skills. Novice athletes will begin to perfect figures, which are technical elements designated by USA Artistic Swimming. Novice athletes compete in the team routine and may compete in another event such as trio, duet or solo.

 

Intermediate(SwimRVA-CSAC)

Intermediate performers continue learning basic skills and begin developing more advanced skills. Like the Novices, all Intermediate athletes participate in team routines and may also compete in another event such as trio, duet or solo. Their routines become longer with more requirements, and the figures are more complex, compared to the Novices.

 

Age Group(SwimRVA-CSAC)

Athletes advance to Age Group when they have mastered basic and advanced skills and are prepared to make a more significant commitment to the team and the sport of Artistic Swimming. Age Group swimmers can participate in regional and even national competitions. Age Group routines are significantly longer and more complex, compared to the Novice and Intermediates.
