From April 10th – 13th thousands of fans and spectators rushed to Richmond to witness history being made in their own backyards. The TYR Pro Series brought a new caliber of competitive swimming to the area; over 400 of the top swimmers in the world signed up to compete. Star athletes included Simone Manuel, Katie Ledecky, Caleb Dressel, Cody Miller, and more! It was a first for the area, and the local fanbase did not disappoint. If people weren’t in the stands cheering on their fan favorite, they were in the fanzone enjoying the livestream while shopping for swimming gear.
The tournament was just as thrilling for the fans as it was for swimmers. Autograph sessions, Q&A’s, and other events throughout the week gave many young aspirants chances to really connect with the heroes that inspired them to Swim For It, opportunities that may have never happened otherwise.
