Two Rapids Swimmers Honored As USA Swimming Scholastic All-Americans

November 20, 2024 Posted by SwimRVA

Two SwimRVA Rapids Swimmers, Christine and Jack, were named to the 2024 Scholastic All-America Team as announced by USA Swimming on Wednesday (Nov. 13). This award recognizes athletes in grades 9-12 that maintained a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and met the required competition criteria set by USA Swimming during the 2023-24 academic year. Christine and Jack were among 1,790 athletes honored.

Christine is now a three-time recipient of the award, putting her on an elite list with 184 other swimmers. Over the past academic year she competed in many national level meets, most notably participating in the 2023 Speedo Junior National Championships. Christine was also crowned the 2024 VHSL Class 3 State Champion in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Currently, she is a freshman at Virginia Tech and competes on the Swimming and Diving team.

This is the first Scholastic All-America honor that Jack has earned during his swimming career. During the 2023-24 season he competed in multiple high-level meets and has been rapidly improving his times across various events. In addition to being a Futures-level qualifier, Jack was a top-eight finisher in multiple events at the 2024 Virginia LC Senior Championships and the 2024 VHSL Class 5 State Championship.

Congratulations to both athletes!
