Joaquin, a member of the SwimRVA Rapids Water Polo Team, was recently recognized as Student of the Year by Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS). Joaquin is no stranger to success in the classroom, as he frequently brings home awards from his elementary school; however, this recognition from CCPS takes his success to the next level. CCPS describes the award criteria as:
- Embodies the very best of our school community.
- Consistently demonstrates dedication, perseverance and strong character.
- Comes to school like a ray of sunshine, spreading positivity to everyone.
- Demonstrates outstanding character, academic excellence and leadership.
- Makes others feel welcomed and valued.
- A true light in the classroom.
Joaquin couples his academic excellence with an impressive list of accomplishments in the pool as a part of the SwimRVA Rapids 12U Team, highlighted by becoming a 12U Bronze Medalist at the 2025 Junior Olympics in Texas this past August.
Joaquin has become an amazing role model to others, exemplifying what it means to be a successful student-athlete!
