Summer League Swim Team Schedule and Age Groups

While the swim team might be your child’s primary focus, we still want our team members to have a fun-filled summer. This is why we schedule our practices in the afternoon instead of the early morning. Later practice times can encourage your whole family to take advantage of the pool facilities during the day — including a family and kiddie pool. Your child can also sleep in each morning if they wish — the authentic summer experience!

Here is a general look at our Monday through Friday schedule for various age groups:

• Ages 5-10: 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
• Ages 11-18: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Our summer swim league takes place at our outdoor pool in Richmond, VA. As a whole, summer league swimming consists of:

• Swim technique: During the summer, your child will become a master at all four swim strokes. They will be given the opportunity to explore whether they most enjoy sprints or long distances in certain strokes and be able to put their skills to the test at swim meets. Overall, becoming more advanced in this life-saving skill is always a benefit.
• Team atmosphere: The swim league allows your child to collaborate in a team atmosphere with same-age individuals who share the same passion for the sport. While swimming is an individual sport at its core, swimmers will rely on their team for support and motivation and do the same in return.
• Fun memories: In the end, swimmers will make lasting memories with their teammates and form deep friendships that last a lifetime.

Head Coach:  Adam Huffman

Adam Huffman is excited to join SwimRVA-North this summer and bring his passion for aquatics to the Dolphin team. He spent five years coaching with the Glen Allen Gliders serving as both an assistant and head coach.  He was a competitive swimmer in the JRAC league for 12 years.

Adam also brings three years of experience from the Patrick Henry YMCA, where he worked as a swim instructor and assistant swim team coach. During that time, he helped develop lesson curricula and trained instructors, working with swimmers of all ages and ability levels.

Whether he’s guiding a child through their first moments in the water or helping adults build strength and confidence, Adam is committed to creating a positive, engaging experience for every swimmer. He believes the summer swim season is about more than just performance; it’s about building friendships, confidence, and a love for the water.

Adam is dedicated to fostering a fun, supportive environment focused on individual growth and team camaraderie, and he can’t wait to make a splash with the Dolphins this season!
