Located in Chesterfield County, SwimRVA serves the Greater Richmond area as a catalyst for regional aquatics and community-wide focus on water safety, health & fitness, sports tourism and competitive swimming.  We offer swimming lessons, water aerobics, aqua running, water polo, CPR & lifeguard certification courses, masters swimming, warm water therapy pool, land fitness classes, and youth triathlon training.

The Lifeguard serves as an integral part of the SwimRVA team by ensuring safety in and out of all pools. In addition to ensuring safety, the Lifeguard will inspect the facility on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions as well as performing facility maintenance and other operational tasks assigned by the Director of Operations and shift supervisors.

Lifeguard Position Requirements

  • Lifeguard Certified with CPR for the professional rescuer, First Aid, and AED.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with patrons including parents, children, and funders.

  • Demonstrates confidence in knowledge of safety, first-aid and lifeguarding skills.

  • Demonstrates some knowledge of pool maintenance and sanitation.

  • Able to carry out water rescues.

  • Takes initiative and prioritizes tasks. A team player that demonstrates a positive attitude and strong sense of customer service.

  • Flexible and able to adapt to a developing and changing work environment.

  • You must be at least 16 years old to apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates with current certifications will be given priority.

  • Candidates will be asked to perform a swim test and demonstration of rescue skills prior to employment.

  • Positive and energetic attitudes are a plus.

We are now hiring Lifeguards with availability for 2 to 5 shifts per week, preferred availability will go to those who are able to work weekday mid shift (11 am to 4 pm), weekday pm shift (4 pm to 9:30 pm) and event weekends. We are also seeking applicants with weekend availability to accommodate events held at the facility.  Event shifts on weekends are usually about 6 hours long and can start as early as 6 am and go as late as 10 pm. This is a part-time position with hour ranging from 15 to 30 hours per week.  There is a potential for an elevated number of hours during demanding events.
